Cora Novoa, Fonograma 2025 Award for the DJ collective’s contribution to Catalan culture

The Association of Catalan Phonographic and Videographic Producers-Editors (Apecat) highlighted the role of the Galician artist in the diffusion of recorded music for the Catalan culture.

“T’estimo molt, Catalunya”. Delivering her first speech in Catalan, DJ and techno music producer Cora Novoa took the stage at the Born Cultural Center to receive the Fonograma 2025 Award. Although she is originally from Galicia, she does not hesitate to say that she is Galician-Catalan. An esteem for the territory in which she has lived for more than 14 years and in which she has developed an important part of her career. “Thank you for having adopted a Galician like me in your land,” she said emotionally. In the last award ceremony, the Association of Catalan Phonographic and Videographic Producers-Editors (Apecat) wanted to recognize the contribution of the Dj collective in the diffusion of recorded music.

In addition to producer, Novoa is a creative director, researcher of the intersection of art and technology and owner of her own record label Seeking The Velvet. In 2017 she made history in the Spanish music scene by becoming the first woman to win recognition at the Vicious Music Awards, on that occasion in the Best Dj category. During her career she has also performed on stages around the world, including the Tate-Modern Museum, Fabric London, Mutek Montreal and the 2025 edition of Sónar Barcelona.
