Cora Novoa – Mental Diary (ACT III)

Cora Novoa’s highly anticipated third studio album, ACT III: This is not about you and me. This is about us is released today, December 5th and is now available on all digital platforms. The release features a limited-edition cassette, a print and digital format of the album, as well as a capsule collection of tees.

Released on the artist’s label, SEEKING THE VELVET, the album contains nine tracks that build a dark, steamy and mysterious atmosphere, using modular synthesizers and analog recordings to reflect the complexity and uncertainty of our time.

ACT III. This is not about you and me. This is about us explores concepts such as the complexities of human existence in the digital age, reflecting on issues such as artificial intelligence, climate change and the search for a sense of community in an increasingly fragmented world.

A universe conceived entirely by the artist

Cora Novoa has led the creative direction of this project, being responsible for the storytelling and the development of the visual and imaginary language that is reflected in the different elements of the launch. A personal seal that is reflected in all her projects and that has made her one of the most transforming artists of the national scene.

Under the umbrella of this new release, the artist has also signed two special videoclips for the imaginary of the album come to life, both directed by Atómico!

The first one is for her track No Faith, No Fear (October) and places us in a dystopian and dark world that only harbors the memory of what once was. There we wake up after a computer error, and glimpse the world of tomorrow, where humanity gave up on salvation, evading its own reality. People gather in groups and use technology to simulate past lives in order to escape the world they live in. A premise that introduces the general tone of the album at a conceptual level and that will have a prequel in upcoming releases.

The second, from his track Todo x Ti, will be released in the next few weeks, and is conceived to be the prequel to the previous one. As an existentialist visual odyssey, it is an introspective journey towards death and what lies beyond through the subconscious as the place where all our memories are stored. What awaits us after nothingness?

The release of the album also brings the release of a final video that unites both pieces to tell the story chronologically. Two stories that reflect on existence and the desire to evade an inescapable reality.

“Mental Diary”, a three-part concept album comes to an end

ACT III. This is not about you and me. This is about us functions as the conclusion of Mental Diary, his most intimate and conceptual album-trilogy to date. Beyond a traditional musical release, this creation is presented as a 360º project that combines music, visual art and design. As such, each act of the trilogy has been conceived as a work of art in itself, with a coherent narrative and a distinctive visual language.

The feature film follows the classical story structure based on Aristotelian composition, presenting the character’s introspective journey towards what he is intensely searching for and his evolution along the way. The artist thus culminates this 360º audiovisual project that transcends the limits of music and explores her current state as a mental diary. A metaphor for the personal and professional changes she has lived through since 2018 until today.

New A/V show and first dates confirmed for 2025
